About Kyle Waring

Hello everyone, my name is Kyle Waring.  I am a young entrepreneur from a small town outside of Boston, Massachusetts.  I have been a publisher in the internet marketing industry since 2003, and currently monetize a highly trafficked network of 170 websites.  Let’s take a trip down memory lane…shall we?

I have always been passionate about business.  When I was in sixth grade I would buy candy at our local convience store and would sell it at school during lunch.  I tested out various combinations of candy to see which would be the most profitable- and would sell best.  Through a series of testing I found out that Laffy Taffy was preferred.  It was too hard to convince people to buy $1.00 candy bar when they only had $2.00 for lunch.  Laffy Taffy was great because it was cheap enough (only 25 cents), and also because it tasted great.  For 25 cents I would sell 2 pieces of laffy taffy- in a number of delicious flavors.  I would purchase each piece of Laffy Taffy for 5 cents a piece, which left me with a profit margin of 15 cents.  I then reinvested these retained earnings to buy more candy.  After a couple of weeks, I ended up eating all my profit- and enjoyed every moment of it! (except for how sick I got)…

At the time I was just excited about generating some extra money to buy candy.  However, when I look back at this experience- I am proud to say that I have had an entrepreneurial mindset since I was 12 years old.

Shortly thereafter I started to design and develop my own websites.  At first I was really obsessed about how my website looked.  I would change the design on a weekly basis just because I enjoyed redesigning it.  I mastered html/css, and extensively learned PHP/MySQL.  By the age of 16, I had built an architecture for a custom content management system.  This CMS powered my robust network of video websites that was growing at an incredible rate.  After redesigning my site several times, exchanging links & traffic, and conducting on-site search engine optimization- my sites had amassed 40,000 unique visitors daily.  I was running 2 web servers, and 2 file servers- all while trying to scale.

Just as any 16 year old entreprenur from MA would- I reinvested everything I had.  At first I thought I could manage everything on my own (as any young driven entrepreneur would)…but there simply wasn’t enough time during the day.

[insert 3 years worth of information here] – stay tuned

In 2005 I ended up selling my network of websites for low $xx, xxx and simultaneaously started another network. I then leveraged the knowledge that I had gained to build Campus Break.com- a place for college students to post pictures, videos, and links.  At the time I was entering college, and thought it would be a great media website that I could promote around campus.

I had gained enough knowledge of the industry to quickly assemble a site and invested into upgrading my content management system.  I also spent a lot of time conducting keyword research, and link building.  These were essential parts of building my network, and I owe a lot of credit to keyword research firms (thanks for helping me make money!)

Thinking about that, and how far I’ve come- makes me really appreciate the internet.  I am currently 22 years old, awaiting my college graduation, and work as an…

Internet Publisher, Search Engine Optimist, Affiliate Marketer, Intuitive Marketing Guru, Content Aggregator,  Avid Web Enthusiast

I manage the advertising inventory on http://www.bored.com and also work as a marketing consultant

In addition to this, I am also building a web design firm with specialties in search engine optimization.

I look forward to posting some of my thoughts, and feel free to catch up with me on linkedin.

Thanks,

Kyle Waring
